This policy explains how the Chick Hal-Hal iOS application (“the App”) handles information.
1. Information handled by the App
- Location: with your permission, the App uses your device location to show nearby halal restaurants and calculate distance. Chick Hal-Hal does not store a history of your device location.
- Account information: the App supports Firebase Email/Password and Sign in with Apple. Firebase Authentication processes your email address, display name, authentication identifier, and credentials. When you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may provide an account identifier, your name, and a private relay email address. Chick Hal-Hal and CloudKit do not store your account password in plaintext.
- Public community content: ratings, reviews, photos, and your display name are stored in the public CloudKit database and are visible to other users.
- Moderation submissions: complaints, reports, and related details are used for moderation, safety, and abuse prevention. They are not displayed to other users.
- Local app data: favorites, preferences, and session information are stored locally on your device. Favorites are not synchronized through CloudKit.
- Interaction data: limited actions such as viewing a place, saving it, requesting directions, or submitting a review may be used to calculate popularity and prevent abuse.
2. How information is used
We use information to operate account features, display nearby places, publish community contributions, calculate community ratings and popularity, prevent spam and abuse, maintain security, and improve the App.
3. Services and sharing
Chick Hal-Hal does not sell personal information and does not use it for cross-app advertising or tracking. The App uses service providers only as needed to operate:
- Apple MapKit and Core Location for maps, place search, location, and directions;
- Apple CloudKit public database for reviews, ratings, photos, display names, and moderation records. Complaints and reports are accessible only for moderation and are not shown publicly;
- Firebase Authentication for Email/Password account creation, sign-in, authentication, and password-recovery emails;
- Sign in with Apple for Apple-based authentication. Apple may provide an account identifier, your name, and a private relay email address according to your Apple privacy choices.
Firebase Authentication, not CloudKit, manages user accounts and authentication credentials. These providers process information under their own privacy terms. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect users, rights, and service security.
4. Public community content
Reviews, display names, ratings, and photos are stored in public CloudKit and are intended to be visible to other Chick Hal-Hal users. Complaints and reports are submitted for moderation and are not displayed to other users. Do not include sensitive personal information in public submissions.
5. Retention and deletion
Firebase account data and public CloudKit community contributions are retained while your account is active or as needed to operate the App and meet legal obligations. Local favorites and preferences remain on your device until you remove them or delete the App. You can edit account details or permanently delete your account from About → Manage My Contributions → Account Settings → Delete Account. Account deletion removes the Firebase account and associated public CloudKit contributions, subject to limited retention required for security, fraud prevention, disputes, or law. Processing a verified deletion request may take up to 30 days; residual backups, if any, are deleted or overwritten within 90 days.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards. No networked service can guarantee absolute security.
7. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Your choices
You can deny or change location permission in iOS Settings, edit your account information in the App, remove individual contributions where available, clear locally stored favorites, or delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, restrict, or obtain a copy of your information.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. The current version and effective date will remain available at this URL.
